We also had a side crew named Flip squad. I cant name all of them. When we got together we were hella deep. The flip squads still around. They all got older and broke off into diffrent crews. what bout matrix (chRIS)though thought he was down with Middle? yeah what about matrix? he was coming up all those years ago. and shiopow? that dude was my hero in high school. Maybe I can shed some light on 'Flip Squad' as most of them will never, ever see the light of this forum and further on Matrix as well, while adding a bit of my own history, Dragon Prophecy (lol, yeah yeah I know), later to be Dead-Beatz. When I moved to Michigan from Cali in the summer of 96-97 (right before high school), I eventually met, went to school and hung out 3 of my closest friends to this day. All Filipino, all of which don't really dance anymore due to various obligations and career paths (one of these three being James, aka Shiopow). Through them (more specifically through James), I was introduced to 'Flip Squad.' Truth be told, Flip Squad was the collective gathering of Filipinos that were more gang-bangers in the suburbs than anything. They're cool as hell and being the only non-'flip' to hang out with them at the time was quite daunting lmao. After James, Brent, Elam and myself came into the mix, we were just starting out and realized a lot of the random peeps within FS were into dj'ing, popping and/or bboying (to varying degrees). We would slowly start up circles and what not at school dances, clubs, gatherings etc. (how we ended up practicing, battling against and sometimes with Middle School, the Hmongs and the original Khaos Crew before NSA and Detroit Symphony of Souls before Hardcore Detroit was official and Haleem still had mad, long ass dreads!) at places like the old Golden Harvest, GR Forums, VFW Halls, Bess Middle School, Canton High School, etc. Between Brent aka 'BZY' and myself, wstarted a hip-hop club at our high-school and were attending our first practice sessions at the Southfield joint were we met all the o.gs, vets and long standing members in the scene; all of Middle School, DSOS in Uri and Haleem, all the southwest cats (HOLLA)!, some of NSA would roll down there, Bill and RJ aka 'Reazon' were just starting out and weren't even in NSA yet... and when I met Chucky and Eric aka "Demeyes." From then on, most of Flip Squad were doing all sorts things in their personal lives and taking paths in their lives; from Brian Galvez going to Air Force, Phil aka 'P-Nut' moving around, others starting up families, schooling or back to schooling etc. man matrix I felt was ahead of his time like how uri was....... Fasho! Was great to be able to get them to battle it out in 01' at our jam Which as a matter of fact, Bill, RJ, Calvin, Haleem and James did as well haha. Whoops. I forgot about chris a.k.a matrix. Yea we put him down back in 2000. It's a shame he quit a got up on that club party boy type stuff. But yea add one. As a matter of fact, during the last few years he was in the MI. scene before moving to Chi-Town (last I heard), he was rocking Dragon Prophecy with Shio, myself, Chucky etc. at this 1on1 event we threw "Bring the Skill: Step into Our Circle," and at the last of the VFW battles 'Dreams II Reality' and Debbie threw. Lol, good times. A few years after that, more of the original crew moved on to bigger and better things and Chucky, Eric and I formed 'Dead-Beatz.' A couple of years after that, LBJ came about and Chucky and the younger cats shifted from their original crews ('Hydrosolid' to Dead-Beatz with BYN moving on to LBJ as well.

So with all that crap said up there ^ - Dragon Prophecy: aka DP lol... (97-02') - Original 4: James 'Shiopow' / Brent 'BZY' / Elam 'Baboy' / Tom 'Krazy-V (k-v)' Lifelong friends to come: Chucky ('Chakoy' at one point heh) 98' / Eric 'Demeyes' repping every element of Hip-Hop to the fullest! 98' / Chris 'Matrix' 00' --> As Koncept stated for NSA/NF, we were not original to start off as well, being engufled by the VHS's of Summit, BOTY, Mighty 4 and FSS's. Not to mention around this time, OFF was hot! So we were heavily influenced by the West Coast (Cali & Seattle), to Midwest (Texas, Wisconsin and Chicago) and Florida. After a year or so in it, we began to develop our own styles which def. didn't look like any one in Michigan and were one of the first few crews in Michigan to venture out of Michigan/Chi-Town/Canada to battle AS a crew. We had some good times, great memories, met awesome ppl and made complete fools of ourselves at quite a few out of state events; probably most notable was Summit 02 aha. Good times hearing CROS call out 'Dragon... *mumbles something, smirks* Prophecy?' (aha!) for prelims going right after Killafornia (then 'Breaklife')! Dead-Beatz: (02-08') Unofficially, DB will get referenced every now and then by association. For one example, I havent crew'ed up since and will have this happen (occasionally even in NY). - Original members from DP: Chucky, Demeyes, k-v Additions to the family: Alvyn 'Byn' (Hybrid at one time heh) / Mohammed (Ray Midwest previously) / John B. 'BigAction' / Doug 'Rize / Hebret 'H!' all roughly 02' | and special mention for Boy! Yup, he rocked Deadbeatz for a bit HOLLA at cho BOY! =D --> Random pairing of the the older gen. with (at the time) the younger gen. spawned these bboys that were well-rounded from Chucky down to Byn (eventually for the younger cats, as we all had 'originality' issues starting out lol). Bboys that could incorporate their own style to common moves and could dance for days. But more importantly the willingness to teach, guide etc. Chuck, Eric and Byn embody this.
