When do you consider someone an O.G. Bboy, or O.G. anything? What are yall's thoughts? p.s. I think "A. Thai" is since he's the oldest Bboy in the Midwest! Congrats on the big 30!

When you're over 30, and you have to quit due to physical health problems like weak knees, arthritis, and erectile disfunction. If you're crew members have quit dancing because they started families and such, i think is another sign.

i had a talk with flattop and dr.poplock about this at the last MTA.....
picture this...
flattop, dr poplock, cryzko, licoric lloyd.... (lloyd might have stepped out for this..not sure)
the topic came up about the term OG and this that and how..... in a nutshell, we came to a conclusion that an OG is an older cat that supports and culture and brings forth knowledge to the game..... sure there are ols school cats that might have busted out back in the day but then gave up when the "fad" ended....... those that teach, support, innovate, build foundations/etc in the area and culture are OG's.....
the term OG also derived from the words original generation...... not original gangsta either...
i believe that once you stop supporting this culture, you lose you OG statis.... the only way this can grow is support from all those involved..............
it's really hard to say who's an OG also....... not sure if it would go by age/years in the game/statis/etc........

thanks for that insight, cryzko. that realy expanded my thoughts on the subject, especially that an o.g. is still a contributor who cares the future generation keeps growing and gets stronger.
Another point to make is that you cannot self-proclaim yourself an O.G. of any sort. The status can only be earned through the reputation you build through your self-lessness to your community, which your friends and strangers should be able to see and appreciate on their own.

most OG's dont consider themselves OG's if they are still rocking it...... you are always a student in this....... their are many views of many things in this culture....... the east coast has thier way of doing things...the west....chicago...detroit.....miami/etc.......
some cats say i'm an OG...not really.... i got in the game on a serious note in 94.... messed around since the 80's....been beatboxin since the mid 80's/etc....
we all tend to get older and realize aspects that really make up what we do..... it's called wisdom...... once you are able to step back and view the picture, you will see what needs to be done........ whether it's dance/etc.... any form of art needs to have that ability to be view from afar......
understanding why you are dancing is the key..... visonaries and innovators are what we all are.......
you must realize the box before you get out of the box...... but then again, you can be in the box and think outside the box.......

i dont think i'm an O.G. actually.. yeah i'm definitely not. ..i don't dance anymore, and i'm old.. but not that old. Calvin is my age.. he's not an OG either. Strings is my age.. he's not one either.. BUT.. i think we're close to that age tho.
